Seniors Class of 2024,
As you prepare for the next exciting chapter of your lives, it’s essential to stay informed about financial aid opportunities. Whether you’re planning to attend college or pursue other post-secondary options, here are some critical reminders regarding the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and the TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid):
In accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC), §28.0256,
· Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
· Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA); or
· Submit a signed opt-out form.
A completed FAFSA/TASFA or an opt out form is required for graduation.🎓💻
FAFSA:
If you’re a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, you should complete the FAFSA. Even if you’re unsure about your eligibility, it’s worth applying. Visit studentaid.gov to check if you qualify. Do not complete both the FAFSA and TASFA. Choose the one that best suits your situation.
Deadline Extension: The priority deadline for the FAFSA has been extended to May 11. Act promptly to maximize your federal financial aid options.
Remember that funding is limited, so apply as soon as possible.

TASFA:
Students who are classified by the institution as a Texas Resident who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the FAFSA are encouraged to complete the TASFA. TASFA applicants usually include students who are non-citizens or non-permanent residents of the United States.
Deadline Information:
Deadlines vary by institution, so contact the college you plan to attend to confirm the final TASFA deadline.
Many institutions use the state priority deadline of January 15 for the upcoming award year.
While the priority deadline is not a hard cutoff, submitting your TASFA before it ensures priority consideration for available funding.
