Two Seniors Become Viral After HOCO Proposal

Edinburg North is on the map again after two seniors became viral on TikTok after posting their HOCO proposal which featured the song “Hey Baby” performed by our Mighty Cougar Band.

Senior Byron Pereira had seen multiple Tiktoks about new proposals and how they were going all out and decided that he wanted to do that too.

“With the help of Liana’s friends, they helped me get everything ready, and on my part I got the band, "said Pereira. “We almost had messed it up because the band wasn’t going to stay after halftime so we had to push it earlier into the 2nd quarter.”

He said that it turned out really good so he was happy with how everything went.

Liana Gorena, a senior as well, was very confused with what was going on.

“I knew that they never played “Hey Baby” this early, but then I thought that since they were not staying after halftime, they just played it earlier, "said Gorena.

She was just looking around and one of her friends told her to look at the field. She still didn’t know where until one of her friends turned her to Pereira’s direction.

“I finally saw Byron walking with Charlotte the Cougar holding a poster that read ‘Hey baby, I wanna know, will you be my girl at HOCO?’ and I was overcome with so many emotions I started crying,” Gorena said.

They then decided to post it on Tiktok and within a couple of days they reached 2.1 million likes and close to 8 million views from around the world. These two students have also been contacted and publicized by other pages such as ESPN and Barstool. And had comments from Microsoft and Eggo! also.
